We will be holding our annual meeting at The BigWoods on the Trinity. This is a hunting lodge on 7,500 acres just west of Palestine, TX. There are plenty areas for field and water training. It is a spectacular venue for hunting dog enthusiasts! Attendance at the meeting and access to training grounds is strictly for current 2023 LSN members. This is not a time for guest. So, if you haven’t renewed your membership for 2023 please consider doing so.
In addition to the Annual Meeting and the Training Grounds available to you we have additional activities. Dr. Clairissa Maples (DVM) will give a talk on First Aid for your Dog for incidents afield. We are also lining up one or two dog trainers on subjects to be announced (steadiness, obedience, force fetch, etc.)
Saturday night we will have a dinner catered by the chefs at the BigWoods. We are paying by the plate, so we’ll need a headcount. Their anticipated menu for us:
If you come out for just the annual meeting (time to be announced later – but it will be around noon on Saturday, April 29th) there is no cost for you. However, if you want to take advantage of using the grounds and training with other members of the chapter there is a cost.
The BigWoods has is a limited number of beds available, so for those who want to stay on the grounds Friday and Saturday nights rooms will be assigned in pairs on a first paid basis. If you want to enjoy the full weekend but are not comfortable with room sharing, please consider the La Quinta (dog friendly!) or another hotel in Palestine, which is only 27 minutes away.
The cost structure for the weekend:
Annual Meeting only No Cost
Meeting / Training $100/family membership
Meeting / Training / Dinner $100/family, plus dinner cost of $30 per family member
Meeting / Training / Dinner / Accommodations $200/ pp, or
$300/ couple (i.e., family members
in one room)

Training starts at 7am on Saturday, April 27th. Around midday we will take a break from training and have our Annual meeting during a working lunch. Afterwards we will have Jason Stanley of Bones Fork Kennels put on a demonstration of Table Work and Techniques. More training after those sessions, and we will have a half-day of training available on Sunday, April 28th.
The chapter will provide breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and lunch on Saturday (sandwiches, chips, sodas) during the Annual Meeting. The chefs at The Bigwoods will prepare our Saturday evening meal. The BigWoods rooms will be assigned on a first paid basis, but Palestine is only 25 minutes away if we run out of rooms on site (or if you don’t want to share a room with another member).
